JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing and/or maintaining systems operations documentation, procedures and methods, including user reference manuals for various projects.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Technical Writer/Course Developer position will research, organize, write, edit and produce technical data in support of various operation project(s). This position is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the technical documentation, to include specifications and user manuals, comply with the required standards and style guides according to the customer requirements relating to the writing task assignments. JOB RESPONISBILITES:• Review OEM specifications for equipment maintenance and operations• Attend field worksites (including travel) as needed to understand basic operations that will assist in development of technical documentation.• Work closely with customer subject matter experts, and other team members to gather and prepare technical information.• Develop, write, edit, and laying out materials for the publication of Operations Technical Manuals and other Operations support materials• Provide technical writing support for all phases of the technical order development and sustainment process including quality reviews.• Organize material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. • Write, edit, and review a variety of technical documentation including online Help, Computer-Based Training materials, Installation procedures, and user manuals.• Perform other various duties and activities as assigned within the physical constraints of the job.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Required Skills• Strong technical background, ability to translate technical information in written procedural content.• Experience with preparation of technical manuals and operations support materials in weapons system operations.• Strong writing, editing and proof reading skills• Working knowledge of DoD Technical order document production standards and Mil-Standards.• Superior verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to work within deadlines and handle edits quickly in an environment where collateral projects receive high edits and require quick turnaround.• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems and work with minimum supervision• Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills• Ability to write detailed technical instructions to support generation and maintenance of technical documents.• Computer competence in MS Office applications.Preferred Skills• Strong creative layout and design skills• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to work within deadlines and handle edits quickly in an environment where collateral projects receive high edits and require quick turnaround.• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems.• Strong organizational skills.• Ability to write detailed technical instructions to support generation and maintenance of technical documents.• Prior field service and support experience in training presentation and product maintenance. REPORTS TO:• Operations ManagerEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Associates degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A Bachelors degree preferred.• Prior Defense, Military, and Government Industry experience is a plus.T.J.
