The publications director will be responsible for authoring, editing, updating and supervising various professional-level projects, including treatise chapters, case studies, law review articles, news-type articles and reference materials. The position requires extensive experience with legal research and excellent writing skills. The candidate must be capable of authoring 1-3 weekly articles on issues relating to tax law, employment benefits, wealth management, insurance, estate planning and other financial topics with minimal supervision and secondary editing, so experience in one or more of these areas is highly desirable. Familiarity with tax law and/or estate planning is also desirable, as the publications director will produce a monthly newsletter outlining recent developments in tax law, focusing on the practical application of tax code amendments, tax court decisions, IRS releases, etc. On occasion, the publications director may be required to train and supervise JD and LLM students in completing various editorial projects, research and other academic writing. The ideal candidate will be able to meet deadlines on a daily basis with minimal supervision, be organized and thorough in his or her research and have the ability to clearly and succinctly explain complicated concepts.
